Module Quiz

Each course is organized into modules. Each module has a quiz designed to help the student self-assess their understanding of the course content. After submitting their quiz answers, students receive immediate feedback. Quiz results are not recorded and can be taken multiple times.

Course Exam

After studying the course material and taking the module quizzes, students can take the course exam. The course exam is designed to test the students understanding of the course material. Course exams are composed of multiple choice questions selected from our extensive question bank.

Exam Characteristics
  • Students have two hours to complete the course exam.
  • The exam is open book. You can use your notes or the study guide to help answer questions as needed.
  • You must achieve a minimum score of 70% to pass the exam.
  • If you do not pass the exam, you may retake the exam.
    • Students are only allowed to take an exam three (3) times within a 48-hour period.
    • After the third attempt, students must wait 48 hours before attempting the exam again. During this time, students should review the course material to improve their understanding.
  • If you pass the exam, you may not retake the exam to raise your score.

Like most safety training, our certificates "certify" you have completed a formal course of study. OSHAcademy certificates do not certify you as a "qualified" safety professional or trainer. And, of course, OSHA does not "certify" anyone as a qualified safety professional either.

In the USA, to be "certified" as a qualified safety professional you need to meet experience and educational requirements and successfully pass an exam from a credentialing organization like the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (www.bcsp.com) or the Institute for Safety and Health Management (www.ishm.org).

The BCSP offers The Certified Environmental, Safety, and Health Trainer (CET) certification. This is a certification for professional trainers.

No.

In order to become an OSHA Authorized Trainer you must meet OSHA's specific requirements. Please review OSHA's How to Become an Authorized Trainer page for more information.

Only OSHA Authorized Trainers can issue OSHA completion cards for their students. Please contact OSHA for more information about their Authorized Trainer requirements.

Yes.

To be certified by the employer as a qualified safety trainer, employees should:

  1. Have knowledge of and experience in the subject being taught;
  2. Complete a "Train-the-Trainer" course, and;
  3. Have their knowledge and presentation skills evaluated by a competent person.

This "Train-the-Trainer" program is designed to help students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct occupational safety and health training for their employer. Completion of the course demonstrates the student has acquired the knowledge about training program requirements, development and presentation. It also helps the student gain knowledge about various safety and health topics.

The student's presentation skills should be evaluated locally by a training manager or other competent person.
