How To Set Song To Ringtone On Iphone 6

While having a custom ringtone isn't as popular as it once was (due to the many decent tones and sounds that are available on most devices), it is still totally possible to have your own custom ringtone on your device. Even in 2017, it is still a great way to personalize your device against the millions of other iPhone 6S's out there in the world and can always make sure you know when you are getting a phone call. And while you can indeed purchase some if you want from Apple, there is also a way to simply transform one of your songs into a ringtone as well. While the process can be a tad long, it is more than worth it if you have a specific song you want to turn into a ringtone.

How To Make a Song a Ringtone on the iPhone 6S

So while the process can be long, it really isn't that difficult to do, even if you aren't very technologically inclined. The steps are fairly easy and as long as you follow them along accurately, you should be able to make a song into a ringtone with ease. So without any further ado, here is how to make a song a ringtone on the iPhone 6S.

Step 1:The first step in the process is to open iTunes and find the song that you want to turn into a ringtone. If the song isn't in your iTunes library, this won't work, so you definitely need a way to have it in your iTunes library. Now, remember, the maximum length for a ringtone on the iPhone is only 30 seconds long, so make sure the song you want to use has a suitable part of the song to use. Of course, you can also make a ringtone be significantly less if you just want a few-second clip.

Step 2:In order to turn the song into the ringtone, you need to take a clip from it. The way you do this is to right click on the song, hit the Get Info button, then click on Options. In the options tab, you will see a start and a stop. That is where you will put in the time that you want your clip to start and stop for your ringtone. You may have to listen to the song a couple times to know exactly what part of the song you want and what times to put in the start and stop. When you have the right timing, press the Ok button.

Step 3:Next, you want to create an AAC version of the song by right clicking and selecting Create AAC Version. Now, you will have the original and an AAC version of the song. Make sure you can tell which one is the AAC version (a good tip is to give it a different name than the original). Next, you can go ahead and change the original song back to its full length, as you now have a new file that is only a small clip of your song.

Step 4:Now you want to click on your AAC clip and select Show in Finder and then right-click the song and select Get Info. Under Name and Extension, change the extension from .m4a to .m4r and then save it. Next, drag the file to your desktop.

Step 5:Now is the time to connect your iPhone 6S to the computer and open iTunes. Select the three dots next to your phone and click Tones. Then drag the file from the desktop to the Tones folder in iTunes. From then, click on your iPhone and then click Sync tones and make sure your newly created tone is selected, and then go ahead and sync your device.

Step 6:Once you have synced, go back on your iPhone and then go to Settings, then sounds and finally Ringtones. Your new ringtone should be right there at the top of the list. All you have to do is click it and then voila, it will be your ringtone! You can repeat this process as many times as you want and make as many ringtones as you want.

So if you followed all of these steps correctly, you should be able to add as many ringtones as you want to your own device with ease. Of course, Apple wants you to buy their tones so that is why the process is so difficult, but as you can see, you definitely can still add custom ringtones to the iPhone 6S. The more you do it, the easier it will become, so happy creating!
